This year's Children's Faith Formation and Confirmation programs will remain online the entire school year.   Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atriums, which we have worked so hard to build and love so much, will be waiting for us to return when things get better.  Our catechists and artists will continue to contribute to them throughout the year, so that even more beauty and presentations will be available when we can all be together again in person.  Our catechists are working hard right now to create a dynamic online experience to keep us connected as a community, and growing in faith together, while also having fun.  Please stay tuned as each class will be different, but amazing!

If things lighten up in the spring, and it is safe and within the city ordinance to do so, we will create beautiful events and experiences, class by class or all together as permitted.

All classes will be online for the 2020-21 school year, Sunday mornings at 11:15:

  • Atrium for children aged 3 through and including Kindergarten:  We will incorporate elements of CGS, songs, activities and special visits from our pastor, Fr. Michael!
  • First Communion for 1st grade (2 years) - 4th grade:  We will use the Faith and Life online series by Ignatius Press, combined with our Zoom meetings which will incorporate CGS elements, Scripture reading, Calligraphy and prayer card making, and knowledge of the parts of the Mass over Zoom, with breakout rooms for deeper conversation.
  • 3rd-4th Grade and 5th-6th Grade Class:  We will continue to use the Spirit of Truth books from Sophia Institute, and gather together in Zoom for learning, crafts in breakout rooms, and growing in faith together.
  • Our 2-year Confirmation Program for students aged 7th Grade + will be online this year.  For more information, see here.

Upcoming dates:

  • Sunday, September 13, 10:30 a.m. (after the livestream Mass):  Virtual Pancake Breakfast!  Join our catechists and families to meet over pancakes at our annual kick-off breakfast.  Since we can't meet in person this year, we will all join together from our own homes, pancakes or whatever breakfast item you prefer in hand, and will break into smaller groups for a short while to get to know each other.  Come and join us!  Zoom link will be sent the week of.
  • September 20, 11:15 a.m.:  All Children's Faith Formation Classes begin on Zoom

Below is how our program normally runs outside a pandemic:

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 Atrium (age 3 - Kindergarten):

Our Atrium is for toilet-trained 3 year olds through Kindergarten, and is a beautiful way to teach our faith to children in a hands on, Montessori style.  Children are given presentations 1-3 children at a time, when they are ready, and may then work with that presentation at his or her own pace.  They learn about the Mass, life of Jesus, Liturgical calendar, and practical life skills.  Space is limited and children will not be able to join later in the year as it disrupts the flow.

Sundays 10:30-11:30 am (priority given to active parishioners)
